King's Academy
is an independent, coeducational boarding and day high
school in Madaba that provides an exceptional educational
experience for outstanding young men and women from Jordan,
the Middle East and around the globe. Blending an American
style of education rooted in the liberal arts and sciences
with Middle Eastern history, traditions, language and
cultural values, King's Academy prepares students for entry
into the most prestigious universities in the world.
Beginning in the fall of 2016, King’s Academy will open a
middle school for grades 7 and 8.
Just 30 minutes
away from Amman, nestled amongst olive groves and farmland,
the 575-dunum (144 acre) King’s Academy campus is a perfect
blend of modern innovation and the rich traditions of the
region. Designed to reflect Levantine and Islamic cultural
heritage, the campus includes state-of-the-art classrooms,
laboratories and a 50,000-book library, a multi-faith
spiritual center and courtyard, dormitories incorporating
faculty family apartments, and a magnificent auditorium that
serves not just the students but the community as a whole.
KING'S ACADEMY MISSION
In a setting
that is rich in history and tradition, King’s Academy is
committed to providing a comprehensive college-preparatory
education through a challenging curriculum in the arts and
sciences; an integrated co-curricular program of athletics,
activities and community service; and a nurturing
residential environment. Our students will learn to be
independent, creative and responsible thinkers within an
ethical community that encourages young men and women of
diverse backgrounds and beliefs to excel, to cherish one
another and to prepare for leadership.
ACCREDITATION AND MEMBERSHIPS
King’s Academy
is fully accredited by the New England Association of
Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of
International Schools (CIS) and is licensed by the Jordanian
Ministry of Education. King’s Academy is also a member of
the Round Square organization and a founding member of the
Global Online Academy (GOA).
FINANCIAL AID AND DIVERSITY
The only
coeducational residential boarding school of its kind in the
region, King’s Academy is also the most diverse school in
the Middle East, with students from 39 countries, and over
40 percent of the student body receiving some form of
financial aid.
A LIBERAL ARTS EDUCATION FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
King’s Academy
students take a remarkably ambitious course of study,
including four years of both Arabic and English and two
additional years of a third language (Chinese, French or
Spanish). King’s is a school of engagement, teaching through
discussion, debate and dialogue. In addition to courses in
math, science, arts and humanities, our students take
required courses in Arabic literature, history of the Middle
East, world religions and Christian and Islamic theology.
King’s strives to graduate students who are globally aware,
inter-culturally competent and fully bilingual.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM
King’s Academy
offers 28 Advanced Placement (AP) classes, most of which are
accepted as credit in American, British and Canadian
universities and colleges. Students at King’s Academy
consistently score higher than the global average on AP
Exams.
Unlike IB and GCSE Advanced Level courses, the AP gives
students the chance to prove their in-depth knowledge across
a wide array of courses: a student’s application to college
might show perfect AP Exam scores in Calculus, Spanish
Literature, Advanced Physics, Music Theory, Microeconomics
and Computer Science, or practically any combination. The AP
Exams give colleges a better sense of the developing skills
and interests of students and, as many admissions officers
can attest, AP scores are a virtual must for students
seeking entrance to top universities around the world. For
Jordanian students, AP Exams help them obtain their Tawjihi
equivalency.
THE FINE, PERFORMING AND PERSUASIVE ARTS
In the hopes of
unlocking each child's creative potential and individuality,
King’s Academy offers a range of courses and co-curricular
activities in the arts. In addition to classes in the
traditional and modern arts of dance, ceramics, mosaics,
painting, photography, drawing, acting, animation and
design, King’s has a youth orchestra and a rich theatrical
program. King’s also offers a comprehensive and required
program in public speaking. Every year each student performs
a public declamation in Arabic and English during an
all-school competition. Students also participate in Model
United Nations (MUN), Model Congress, Debate, Toastmasters
and Jordan Model Parliament.
BOARDING SCHOOL
The boarding
school experience is an ideal way for students to optimize
both academic learning and social development. Under the
close supervision and guidance of faculty and staff,
students are encouraged to challenge themselves
intellectually while developing their social skills,
athletic and extra-curricular interests, personal maturity
and ethics. Sharing common areas in the dorms and around
campus, students learn the arts of patience and compromise
with their neighbors and peers. They also quickly learn the
importance of trust and respect. As a result of living,
eating and studying together, boarding students graduate
with maturity and confidence, an understanding of others who
may be different from themselves and a close bond with
classmates that will endure for the rest of their lives.

Eastern cultural immersion and experiential learning.
The program is designed for students in grades 10 through 12

and culture of a vital part of the world.
AY allows students to gain fluency in Arabic, soak in the
history and culture of the Middle East and “learn by doing”
through off-campus educational excursions in Jordan and the
